Breaking New Landmark Study! NMN Reverses Hair Thinning in Middle-Aged Adults

Aging, stress, and malnutrition can lead to hair thinning, which reduces the quality of life for many people. Given the broad anti-aging benefits that NAD+ (nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide) precursors like NMN (nicotinamide mononucleotide) may offer, researchers from the Mitsubishi Corporation Life Sciences Division investigated its effects on hair.
The Mitsubishi researchers evaluated the hair conditions of 15 women before and after 12 weeks of NMN supplementation. NMN was administered in tablet form at a daily dose of 500 mg. The results showed that NMN increased hair diameter from approximately 75 micrometers (µm) to 79 µm. Two participants were excluded from the analysis as they were extreme statistical outliers. These findings indicate that NMN can reverse hair thinning in middle-aged women.

Freshly Shaved / 3-Days Post-ShaveBefore NMN / After NMN
Prior to NMN supplementation, a small area (about 1 cm²) on the back of each participant’s head was shaved with scissors. Three days after the initial shave, approximately 56 hairs per cm² were found to have grown longer. In contrast, after NMN supplementation, around 88 hairs per cm² grew longer three days after shaving.
